WEEKEND AT PEGWELL BAY & HAM FEN

PEGWELL BAY EARLY MORNING

This weekend I spent a lot of time at Pegwell with the promise of the wind changing and the possibility of something interesting being blown in ! As with most weekends the Peregrine was flying over the Bay lifting most of the Lapwing,Golden Plover & Dunlin. Redshanks and Curlews continued to feed oblivious to the commotion.

REDSHANK

A walk around Ham Fen only threw up a group of 10 Long Tailed Tits and a solitary Merlin then headed back to Pegwell Bay.
Last walk around the Bay and spotted a Short-Eared Owl before heading back home.

Quick walk down to Pegwell Bay along the Cliff top with my daughter on this sunny day.
First sighting was a Silver Y Moth along the Cliff top walk

SILVER Y MOTH

Not much to see due to a high tide but once down on the beach spotted a group of Turnstone's searching for invertebrates along the shore.

Further along a lone Redshank feeding amongst the Turnstone's and the Pied Wagtail from the previous blog.

Walking back towards the Cliff top passed a Peacock Butterfly with its striking eye spots sunning itself on the chalk path.

Further along the chalk beach path a group Pointed Snails around 10mm in length feeding on the vegetation.
